Namibia Camping Tour
A guided self-drive 4x4 camping journey following the Namibia Discovery route from southern Namibia to Windhoek via Sossusvlei, Swakopmund, the Skeleton Coast and Spitzkoppe.
Tour overview
This 11-day Namibia camping tour follows the same discovery route as the lodge journey, but is intended for travellers who prefer a more rugged camping experience and a closer connection to the landscape.
The route starts at Canyon Roadhouse and crosses the Namib, Atlantic coast, Damaraland and Spitzkoppe before concluding near Windhoek.

Meet at Canyon Roadhouse at 16:00 for introductions and the tour briefing. Settle in before dinner and get to know the travellers who will share the route.
Head west through open desert plains and mountain scenery toward Klein Aus. The long gravel-road sections introduce the scale and rhythm of the journey.
Travel through the Garub area, known for its wild horses, before continuing into the Namib toward Sesriem and the gateway to Sossusvlei.
Explore the Sossusvlei and Deadvlei area before leaving the dune landscapes behind and continuing to Solitaire for the evening.
Cross the Namib on scenic gravel roads through Kuiseb Canyon, the Tropic of Capricorn and Moon Landscape before reaching Swakopmund on the Atlantic coast.
Choose how to spend the day. Suggested optional activities include a Living Desert tour, marine cruise, quad biking or sandboarding. All meals that day are on your own account.
Travel north along the Skeleton Coast, pausing at coastal landmarks and shipwreck sites before turning inland through remote desert country toward Palmwag.
Cross Damaraland on remote gravel roads and open desert plains. As Spitzkoppe approaches, its granite peaks rise above the surrounding landscape.
Spend a slower day among Spitzkoppe's granite formations, rock-art sites and viewpoints, with time for photography and a relaxed drive through the area.
Leave the granite peaks behind and travel toward Windhoek as the landscape changes from dry desert plains to the greener hills of the Khomas Highlands.
Share a final morning near Windhoek before the group says goodbye and the guided journey comes to an end.
