Your journey begins at 5pm at Okiep Country Hotel with a warm welcome, a relaxed meet and greet, and dinner reserved for our group. It is the perfect chance to meet fellow travellers, settle into the tour, and share the excitement for the adventure ahead.
Our team will host a short orientation covering the days ahead, important information, the itinerary which may change according to the best blooms, and basic tour guidelines. Questions are welcome while we enjoy complimentary canapés on the patio or in the lounge.
Afterwards, we head to the restaurant for a hearty buffet dinner before turning in for a good night’s rest.
DAY 2
Goegab & KammiesKroon
Choosing the Okiep Country Hotel as our base for four nights isn’t about simply filling rooms it’s about offering you the best possible flower-viewing experience, guided by true locals who live here and know this land like the back of their hand.
This flexibility is what sets our tour apart. Every day is guided by current flower conditions, weather patterns, and the unique rhythm of the Namaqualand bloom. That’s why making us your preferred tour company is a smart choice we’ll take you exactly where nature is putting on her best floral show.
For the sake of providing a basic structure, day one takes us to the stunning Goegap Nature Reserve. After exploring its vibrant landscapes, we follow the scenic back roads through the hills of Springbok and make our way to Kammieskroon if that’s where the bloom is happening that day. We pause in Kammieskroon to enjoy a relaxed lunch before heading back to the hotel for another delicious dinner and a laid-back evening.
DAY 3
Richtersveld 4×4 Flower Experience
After breakfast at Okiep Country Hotel, we set off on an unforgettable 4×4 journey into the rugged Richtersveld. Known for its dramatic mountains, ancient rock formations, and unique plant life, the area offers wonderful photo opportunities and moments to appreciate its natural and cultural significance. Travelling along winding tracks and dry riverbeds, we enjoy sweeping views of the Orange River before returning to the hotel after a rewarding day out.
This evening, we relax with a casual pizza night at the poolside venue, weather permitting, sharing stories, laughter, and the highlights of the day with fellow travellers.
DAY 4
Wildeperdehoek Pass & Skilpad NP
Weather and flower conditions permitting, we enjoy a scenic 4×4 drive over Wildeperdehoek Pass, travelling through rugged valleys and taking in Namaqualand’s unspoiled beauty. We stop to view the ruins of the old stone prison built during the pass’s construction.
From there, we continue through vibrant wildflower landscapes to Skilpad National Park, where we enjoy a packed lunch surrounded by spectacular scenery. If time allows, we may visit Nababeep’s historic mining museum, home to Clara, the region’s famous steam locomotive.
Later, we return to Okiep to relax by the pool and end the day with delicious woodfired pizzas.
DAY 5
Farewell
After breakfast on our last day, we set out on a final exploration of the rich mining heritage that shaped this region. Our morning begins with a visit to the historic Okiep Smoke Stack, a towering reminder of the area’s copper mining past. From there, we make our way to the fascinating Cornish Beam Pump a rare piece of engineering history before wrapping up the experience with a visit to the on-site mining museum at the Okiep Country Hotel. After this memorable walk through time we say our goodbyes and part ways with fond memories, new friendships, and stories to share from our Namaqua adventure.
Note: With Day 1 for arrival and introductions and Day 5 for departure, you’ll enjoy three unforgettable days discovering Namaqualand’s spectacular wildflowers.
