Starting in Ceres, this 5-day Cederberg Lodge Tour takes you through one of South Africa’s most striking mountain regions, combining scenic gravel routes, rugged valleys, ancient sandstone formations and peaceful lodge stays.
The route includes Kagga Kamma, Kromrivier, Stadsaal Caves, San rock art, Cederberg Oasis, Wuppertal, Clanwilliam, Algeria and the Olifants River. Guests can look forward to dramatic mountain passes, wide-open wilderness views, historic settlements, unique flora, wildlife, birdlife and quiet evenings beneath the Cederberg night sky.

DAY 1
Ceres to Kagga Kamma
We meet at the Ceres Information Centre at 09:00 for coffee, introductions and a full safety briefing before departing at 10:00.
The route takes us through scenic mountain landscapes, with a lunch stop at the famous Tankwa Padstal along the way. In the afternoon, we continue towards Kagga Kamma Nature Reserve, where guests check in, settle into their lodge accommodation and enjoy dinner at the lodge restaurant.
DAY 2
Kagga Kamma to Kromrivier
After breakfast at Kagga Kamma, we depart for Kromrivier Cederberg Park, travelling along scenic gravel roads through some of the Cederberg’s most beautiful landscapes.
The day includes mountain passes, rugged rock formations and wide wilderness views, with a relaxed lunch stop at Mount Ceder Lodge. By afternoon, we arrive at Kromrivier, where guests check in for a two-night stay and enjoy dinner at the lodge.
DAY 3
Stadsaal Caves and San Rock Art
Day 3 is dedicated to exploring some of the Cederberg’s most iconic natural and cultural landmarks.
We visit the famous Stadsaal Caves, where wind-shaped sandstone formations create one of the region’s most memorable landscapes. Nearby San rock art offers a glimpse into the lives of the area’s earliest people.
Lunch is enjoyed at Cederberg Oasis before returning to Kromrivier for a relaxed afternoon. Guests can enjoy a walk, spend time near the river or simply take in the mountain setting before dinner.
DAY 4
Kromrivier to Clanwilliam via Wuppertal
After breakfast, we leave Kromrivier and travel towards the historic village of Wuppertal.
Known for its cultural heritage, whitewashed cottages and traditional craftsmanship, Wuppertal offers a special look into the history and character of the Cederberg. From there, we continue through scenic mountain landscapes towards Clanwilliam, one of South Africa’s oldest towns and the heart of the Rooibos Tea region.
We check in at Yellow Aloe Guest House, with dinner served at the Smokehouse Restaurant in the evening.-
DAY 5
Algeria, Olifants River and Departure
After breakfast, we set off on a scenic drive to Algeria, one of the Cederberg’s most peaceful and beautiful wilderness areas.
The route offers dramatic mountain views, fynbos-covered valleys, crystal-clear streams and excellent photo opportunities. We then make our way back towards Clanwilliam, following sections of the Olifants River.
A relaxed picnic lunch is enjoyed along the river before we return to Clanwilliam in the afternoon and say our farewells after a memorable Cederberg journey.
