Things to Bring: 

  • Snacks and drinks for the journey in the car.
  • A tyre pump and pressure gauge.
  • A flashlight, tow rope, and make sure your 4x4 has a hook in both the front and back—just in case.
  • A towel for each person and toilet paper, just in-case.
  • A camp chair for yourself and your partner.
  • Enough drinking water for 7 days   

We’re using a variety of accommodations and dining options along the West Coast. In remote areas, a little patience is needed. Please note, due to the nature of the area, we reserve the right to make last-minute changes to accommodation and restaurant options.

Day 1

Paternoster to Lambertsbaai

We gather in Paternoster at 8 a.m. over a coffee and a chance to get acquainted with everyone on the trip while your guide, Alan share meeting briefs with you. 

 Paternoster is known for its picturesque fishing boats and scenic beaches and lends a quaint and authentic West Coast experience.  After our Meet & Great, we depart at nine o'clock, we drive through the larger Paternoster Park and then onto St. Helena Bay. From there, we continue to Dwarskersbos and further on to Elands Bay. We slowly make our way towards Lamberts bay where we dine at the renowned Muisbosskerm Seafood Restaurant...

Day 2

Lambertsbaai to Lutzville

After a hearty breakfast, we continue our adventure northward along the breathtaking West Coast shoreline, soaking in the rugged beauty of the ocean and countryside. Along the way, we pass through the quaint coastal villages of Doringbaai and Strandfontein—each offering a glimpse into the laid-back charm of West Coast life. Our destination is a well-known Lutzville Wine Farm, where we enjoy a delicious lunch and a curated wine tasting, surrounded by rolling vineyards and the warm hospitality this region is known for.

After lunch, we journey further north through Koekenaap to reach our next rest place for the night at the renowned Joetsie Lodge.

Day 3

Lutzville to Hondeklip Baai

After a hearty breakfast, we head further north along the West Coast toward our next destination, Hondeklip Baai. The day’s journey takes us along long, sandy tracks, offering breathtaking coastal views and showcasing the rugged beauty of the West Coast.

These sandy routes present a fun challenge, requiring careful maneuvering, but the reward is the stunning, untamed landscape surrounding you.

Day 4

Hondeklip Baai to Nigramoep

After a hearty breakfast, we leave the coast behind and venture inland toward Soebatsfontein, a small village steeped in Namaqualand history. Our journey takes us to the iconic Skilpad Nature Reserve, a true gem within Namaqua National Park. Here, we spend time exploring this flower-rich region, where rolling hills burst into colour during flower season, creating a kaleidoscope of orange, yellow, and white blooms stretching as far as the eye can see.

Day 5

Nigramoep & Okiep Country Hotel

We start the day with a hearty farm breakfast at Nigramoep Slow Living Guest Farm, where the fresh air and wide horizons set the tone for another unforgettable day. After breakfast, we climb aboard the farm’s iconic Pipe Cars — rugged, open-air vehicles built for adventure — and head deep into the spectacular Schaap River Canyon.

This off-road excursion is a highlight of the trip. With Marius as our guide, we traverse rocky trails and wild terrain while learning about the region’s fascinating plant life.

Day 6

Okiep Country Hotel to Letsatsi Lodge

After a full buffet breakfast at the Okiep Country Hotel, we hit the road once again — this time heading for the magnificent Goegap Nature Reserve, located just outside Springbok. Known for its dramatic granite outcrops and rich biodiversity, Goegap transforms into a colourful wonderland during flower season. We take our time here, meandering through flower-filled valleys, spotting endemic succulents, and soaking in the peaceful beauty of this unique semi-desert reserve.

Day 7

Departure Vanrhynsdorp

After enjoying a relaxed breakfast at Letsatsi Lodge, we bid our farewells to new friends and the unforgettable landscapes of Namaqualand and the stunning West Coast.

Vanrhynsdorp is rich in character and home to a unique succulent nursery, one of the largest in the world, showcasing rare and endemic desert plants — a final floral treat for those who wish to stop. The town’s historic buildings and quaint shops offer a glimpse into the lifestyle and culture of this arid but vibrant region.

With cameras full, hearts filled, and tyres dusty, we part ways — taking the colour, flavour, and magic of the Namaqualand and West Coast with us. This marks the end of our adventure, but for many, the beginning of a lifelong love for this remarkable part of South Africa.
